Forest Service to host public meeting about new proposed recreation access for Berlaimont Project

MINTURN, Colo. - The Forest Service is hosting an informational public meeting about the proposed Berlaimont Estates Road Improvement Project. The informational meeting will be held on Wednesday Aug. 15, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Holy Cross Ranger Station located at 24747 US Highway 24 Minturn, CO 81645. Forest Service and Town of Avon staff will be available to answer questions. The purpose of this meeting will be to introduce new changes to the proposed Berlaimont Estates Road Improvement project. These changes are a result of the most recent public comment period and focus on mitigation of wildlife and recreation impacts.

“This meeting will give the public an opportunity to ask questions about a new proposed multi-use trail and changes to the June Creek Connector route,” said Aaron Mayville, District Ranger. “These additions came up in public comment after we released the Draft Environmental Impact Statement and we would like to hear what people think.”

The White River National Forest continues to work on a Final Environmental Impact Statement which is expected to be released sometime later this year. Additional information can be obtained from: Matt Klein, Realty Specialist for the Eagle-Holy Cross Ranger District, matthewklein@fs.fed.us  or (970) 827-5182.
