For Immediate Release | March 1, 2018 Report from the February 27th Avon Town Council MeetingColorado World Resorts application work session, ECO Transit presentation Avon, CO – The Avon Town Council held a regular meeting on February 27th. Highlights of the meeting include the following:
- At the February 13, 2018 Council meeting, the Town Council voted to deny two land use applications for the Colorado World Resorts, LLC Property. As stipulated in the Avon Development Code, it is required for the Council to adopt written findings which document land use decisions. Therefore, the Council took action on two separate findings of fact and records of decision. First, the Council approved the Findings of Fact and Record of Decision rezoning from PUD to Mixed-Use Commercial Zone District, and the Open Space, Landscaping, and Drainage Zone District, thereby denying the zoning application. Second, the Council approved the Findings of Fact and Record of Decision rezoning with preliminary PUD Overlay Zone District, thereby denying the PUD Overlay application.
- Council held a work session with representatives of Colorado World Resorts, LLC and members of Avon’s Planning and Zoning Commission to discuss rezoning the Colorado World Resorts, LLC Property and PUD Overlay considerations. The purpose of the session was to help the applicant understand the concerns and desires of Council members and Planning and Zoning Commission members so that the applicant can most efficiently prepare development applications.
- Draft recommendations from Eagle County’s Transit Development Plan Project were presented by Chris Lubbers, Director of Transit and Fleet Services for Eagle County, and Geoff Slater from Nelson/Nygaard. The plan aims to be inclusive, with a wide range of public outreach conducted over the past year, and will provide recommendations for improving county transit services to ensure that service is high performing and meeting community needs.
