Avon LIVE! Summer Concert Series Lineup Announced
Free community concerts will bring talent from around the country
Avon, CO – The Town of Avon is pleased to announce the Avon LIVE! Summer Concert Series lineup, which kicks off August 2nd, and then is followed by three more concerts on August 16th, 23rd and 30th. Concerts will take place from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. on the Avon Performance Pavilion in Harry A. Nottingham Park. The free concert series, which is funded by the Town of Avon, offers the community an opportunity to come together to experience exceptional live music, fresh and unique food truck fare, libations and awesome summer evenings in the park.
The Wednesday evening music series has quickly become an Avon tradition and features award winning national talent. “The Avon LIVE! free concerts are a great way for the community to gather around good music, food, and drinks,” observed Mayor Jennie Fancher. She continued, “The concerts are family friendly and present diverse musical styles on our beautiful stage. Bringing our community together for these fun and entertaining concerts is a high point of the Avon summer.”
Davina & the Vagabonds will open the August 2nd concert for The Iguanas. With influences ranging from the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits, Davina & the Vagabonds are creating a stir on the national music scene with their high–energy live shows, A-level musicianship, and commanding stage presence. The Iguanas will headline the first Avon LIVE! show, redefining 'Americana' by including the Franco-Acadian inflections of Canada, blues and jazz, and the lilting grace and fiery passion of the music of Mexico. The kickoff concert is sure wow audiences with a variety of sound and style.
The August 16th concert will benefit Speak Up Reach Out, with Ages & Ages opening the evening. Hailing from Portland, Oregon, their upbeat, big tent revival sound will have audiences on their feet and dancing in the park. Mipso Promo will headline the August 16th show, a quartet influenced by the contradiction of their progressive home and the surrounding rural southern landscapes. Mipso ventures far and wide to discover a broader Americana, where classic folk-rock and modern alt-country sounds mingle easily with Appalachian tradition.
Reckless Kelly will headline the August 23rd concert, led by brothers Willy and Cody Braun, whose alternative sound balances country and rock. Their songs center on rousing and emotional melodies, and dynamic musicianship that never fails to satisfy. Singer and songwriter Paul Cauthen will open the show with his gorgeous gospel harmonies, coupled with Texas country twang and big-voiced rock and roll.
The final concert will take place August 30th with Quiles and Cloud opening the show, offering music that is stripped-down, yet dense, with musical and lyrical traces of the blues, bluegrass, folk, rock, soul, and classical music. Josh Hoyer, a contestant on Season 12 of The Voice will headline the final summer concert. His combination of soul, funk and R&B is in a word, electric. Best displayed in his high-energy live show, the blend of Hoyer's honest lyrics and his soulful (sometimes in-your-face) vocals merge to create an undeniable chemistry.
