lduncan@avon.org Missoula Children’s Theatre will come to Avon in June
Free program offers a variety of roles for children in grades K-12
Avon, CO – The Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, is coming to Avon to stage an original, full-scale musical production with local cast members in grades K – 12. MCT has been touring extensively for more than 40 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,200 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Directors.
A tour team will arrive in Avon with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play...except the cast. Auditions will begin on June 12th to cast 50-60 local students to perform The Tortoise Versus the Hare. Rehearsals are scheduled throughout the week, with one performance scheduled for Friday, June 16th and two performances scheduled for Saturday, June 17th. Participating children will also enjoy three enrichment workshops presented by the Tour Directors scheduled throughout the week.
All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales . . . a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are enhanced through participation in this unique, educational project.
All students must be registered to audition, and registration for this free program is available on a first-come, first-serve basis through the Avon Recreation Center.
