Avon Seeks Community Members to Serve On Planning and Zoning Commission
Applications will be accepted through April 19th to fill vacancies
Avon, CO – The Town of Avon is seeking community members to volunteer for the Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC). In May, four positions will be vacated and filled by appointment by the Avon Town Council.
The seven member board helps shape policy and land use decisions within the Town of Avon. The Commission is responsible for guiding coordinated development within the Town’s boundaries as well as helping to implement the goals and policies of the Avon Comprehensive Plan.
It also serves as a Design Review Board for the Town, ensuring architectural and landscape designs conform to the Town’s overall appearance and to the standards identified in the Development Code. The Town is anticipating several development review applications and updates to the Avon Comprehensive Plan in the next two years, offering exceptional hands-on opportunities to help shape Avon’s future.
The PZC meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 5:00 p.m. at Avon Town Hall. Members receive a $75 per meeting stipend and an Avon Recreation Center pass for their service. The Commission is comprised of at least five of the seven members being registered electors of Avon at the time of appointment, two or three of which are industry professionals including architects, landscape architects or designers.
Letters of interest and resumes will be accepted through April 19th, with interviews scheduled for the April 25th Town Council meeting. An application, cover letter and resume, with at least three (3) references can be submitted to the Town of Avon, Human Resources Department, P.O. Box 975, Avon, CO 81620, faxed to 970-748-4415; emailed to Peggy Hatley, HR Assistant, at firstname.lastname@example.org; or dropped off at Avon Town Hall, One Lake Street, Avon.
