Response to Report of Elevated Level
of Carbon Monoxide at Buffalo Ridge
Avon, CO – This morning at 2:45 a.m., Avon PD and Eagle River Fire Protection District responded to a report of a suspected gas leak at Building 12, Buffalo Ridge Apartments, located at 1135 Swift Gulch Road in Avon. After an updated report of elevated carbon monoxide (CO) levels, residents of Building 12 were evacuated and temporarily sheltered at the Avon Regional Transit Facility, where Salvation Army provided some much needed food and coffee.
All residents were allowed back in their units around 7:30 a.m. No injuries were reported. Representatives of Corum Real Estate Group are working with RK Mechanical and the Fire Marshal to determine the cause and resolve the situation.
The response required a coordinated effort between Avon PD, Eagle River Fire Protection District, Avon Transit, Vail Communications Center and the Salvation Army.
Safety information on carbon monoxide can be found at http://www.cdc.gov/co/faqs.htm.
