Town’s New Wayfinding System Directs Locals and Visitors
Avon, CO – The Town of Avon is pleased to announce the addition of new pedestrian wayfinding signage throughout the Town Core. The new signs have been installed in eleven locations in the Town Core between Lake Street and City Market, giving directional information on locations and highlighting the Core’s walkability.
The eleven new sign locations were chosen due to their high visibility and importance, with the possibility of adding more signs in later phases. The signs are located near main points of interest in the Town Core, to help visitors navigate the area with ease. According to David McWilliams, Town Planner, “The lack of wayfinding was identified as a barrier to pedestrian mobility during the July 2015 Walkability Workshop conducted by the Blue Zones consulting group.” The new signs were created by Design Workshop, who sought continuity with other Town design elements to create signs that complement their surroundings and are easy to install.
