Avon Hotel Application Reviewed by Town Council
Additional public comment welcome through December 13th
Avon, CO – The Avon Town Council listened to a presentation about the details of the Avon Hotel project submitted by Treadstone Development LLC during a Special Meeting held Monday, December 5
th. The new 142-room hotel is proposed on Lot B, between the Avon Center and the new Town Hall, and it has been unanimously recommended for approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission. Members of Council questioned representatives from Treadstone Development LLC about parking, retail spaces, project elevations, and landscaping in addition to the number of traffic entrances on West Beaver Creek Boulevard.
In addition to review of the hotel design, on December 13
th, the Council will consider a request from Treadstone to fund landscaping in the public right-of-way totaling $40,000 and extension of the Town’s heat recovery infrastructure to Lot B at an estimated contribution of $50,000. The capacity of the heat recovery system must be studied by a mechanical engineer to determine if capacity meets demands from the hotel; if plant upgrades are found to be necessary to serve the new Town Hall and the Avon Hotel, Treadstone Development LLC is also seeking funding for any necessary plant upgrades. If approved, funding would be appropriated from the Urban Renewal Fund budget, which will benefit from increased tax increment revenue generated from the Avon Hotel development, if approved. At the December 5
th meeting, council opted to postpone discussion around funding for the project until all members of Council can be present.
Treadstone Development LLC will take the comments offered by Council and return on December 13
th to present additional work incorporating Council’s feedback. The public hearing will be continued at the December 13
th Town Council meeting to allow for additional public comment. In addition, email comments may be sent to Town Clerk Debbie Hoppe at
dhoppe@avon.org, by not later than December 13
th at 1:00 p.m., for distribution to the Town Council.
