XTERRA USA Championship Festival features Trout Steak Revival
Harry A. Nottingham Park on Saturday, July 16th includes live music, kid friendly activities and so much more!
Avon, CO – The 21st annual XTERRA USA Championship off-road triathlon will be held in conjunction with a new family-friendly and community-focused weekend of events in Avon on July 15-16, 2022. In addition to the main event, XTERRA will host sprint and relay races along with a variety of other endurance events for the whole family including kid’s races, yard games, vendor booths, food trucks, beer gardens, and a free concert featuring Colorado’s own, Trout Steak Revival, at the marvelous open-air Avon Performance Pavilion in Harry A. Nottingham Park.
Ever since winning the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition, Trout Steak Revival has quickly become a quintessential Colorado band. The band’s brand of songwriting, balanced by their indie-folk and bluegrass sound, resonates to listeners and concert-goers nationwide. Among the band’s accomplishments, the band won an Emmy Award for a soundtrack they contributed to a Rocky Mountain PBS. They collaborate with school children in mentoring programs in Colorado and nationwide as part of the Can’d Aid Tunes Ambassador Program. Their music is featured on Bank of Colorado’s radio and television advertisements. Westword named them Denver’s Best Bluegrass Band multiple times, and they were nominated as a Momentum Band of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association.
The Proper Way opens the concert and began as a duo of multi-instrumentalists and vocalists Shane Osguthorpe and Scott Rogers in 2016. After touring non-stop, fellow multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Carrie Myers joined the band in 2018. While ever-growing crowds around the western U.S. hang on every note of The Proper Way’s slow-burn performances, they seem to come for the unexpected explosions of energy that the trio brings.
“We like to plug into the vibe of the crowd and let that vibe guide what we do,” says Osguthorpe. “The only time we use a setlist is at festival performances where we need a tight 45 to an hour, and even then, we’ll be swapping things in and out on the fly.”
Thousands of participants are expected for the weekend of events that kicks off with SunsetSUP races, free yoga, and Moana on the big screen at the Lakeside Cinema on Friday night.
The event continues Saturday with XTERRA triathlons in the morning that finish at Beaver Creek Resort, then the post-race festival at Harry A. Nottingham Park & Pavilion opens at 4:00 p.m. with the XTERRA awards ceremony, free kids run, and bike races, yard games, food trucks, beer and wine gardens, a mechanical bull, chair massages, and ends with the glorious sounds from The Proper Way and Trout Steak Revival.
