Town of Avon – Charging Ahead
More Electric Vehicle Chargers for the Town Avon, a “GoEV Town.”
Avon, CO – The Town of Avon was awarded $44,000 for two Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers by the State’s Charge Ahead Grant Program. The DC Fast Charger and a Level II charger will expand the Beaver Creek Place Charging Station and increase availability to support four Electric Vehicles at one time.
Avon continues to make strides towards their commitment as a "GoEV Town." The Town of Avon was named a "GoEV Town" on March 8, 2021 by the "GoEV City" Coalition. The designation recognizes Avon’s commitment to clean air through transportation decarbonization.
Avon joins Boulder County, Denver, City of Boulder, Summit County, City of Golden, and City of Fort Collins in earning the GoEV City designation. These communities have all made commitments to move to 100% zero-emission transportation as a key strategy to reduce air pollution, protect the climate, and save money.
“With transportation now the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the state, the Colorado ski industry and mountain communities have a critical role to play in this sector’s decarbonization,” said Stefan Johnson, Transportation Program Manager at CLEER and representative of the GoEV City Coalition. “We commend the Town of Avon for their bold commitment to zero emission vehicles and hope to see other mountain communities follow their example.”
