Avon invites locals to name Avon snowplows
through March 19th
Avon, CO – Not all snowplows work three and sometimes all
FOUR seasons, but in Avon the plows (and drivers) work hard clearing snowy roads to safely allow residents and guests to navigate our mountain community year-round.
As a tribute to their efforts, we're inviting you to Name an Avon Snowplow! Community members are invited to enter fun and meaningful names to be officially bestowed upon the exterior of three Town of Avon snowplows through March 19
th.
The Town of Avon wants to keep it local and hopes the names will reflect the community's enjoyment and pride in winter (and all the snowy seasons) in our unique mountain town.
According to the
Name a Snowplow project on the Engage Avon website, “Plowy McPlowface is totally on the table...but special consideration will be given to name suggestions with local flair. We want ideas with heart!”
Users must complete a brief registration for the Engage Avon website and submit their name suggestions by March 19
th. Participants can submit multiple suggestions and “Like” the names submitted by other users.
Suggestions will be reviewed by Staff and Council and Mayor Sarah Smith-Hymes will announce a list of the top name suggestions at the Avon Town Council meeting on Tuesday, March 23
rd.
Final voting will take place between March 24-31, and three winning names will be announced on Friday, April 2
nd. Snowplow art will be installed in Fall 2021.
