Road Closure: Lake Street North of West Benchmark Road Intersection
Avon, CO – On Monday, May 18th the Town will start work on relocating utilities to facilitate the future demolition of the former Town Hall. The Town Hall parking lot and bike path south of the upper athletic field will be closed during construction and is anticipated to reopen around June 8th. Lake Street north of the West Benchmark Road intersection will be closed to thru traffic beginning Monday, May 25th to facilitate construction. The road closure will remain in effect until June 5th to expedite the project and reduce cost.
The project generally consists of utility relocation required to facilitate future demolition of the Old Town Hall building. A major component of the project includes installation of a new water main from Lake Street along the recreation path south of the field to better serve Town facilities in the Park as well as a future public restroom on the site. Detours around the closure will be in place and access to #351 Benchmark from Riverfront Lane will be maintained. Park users are asked to park on Lake Street north of the closure or in the north Recreation Center parking lot. Work will be performed Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Motorists may encounter minor delays and are asked to remain patient and to please allow additional travel time. The Project is being constructed by Solar Valley Enterprises on behalf of the Town. Please contact Justin Hildreth, Town Engineer, at jhildreth@avon.org or (970)331-3741 with questions regarding this work.
