[ARCHIVED] Workout For St. Jude Children's Hospital

Avon, Co – Break a sweat for a good cause! A “Workout for St. Jude” event benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be held the entire month of February 2009 at the Avon Recreation Center. This unique fundraiser requires participants collect pledges for exercising. A few examples would be miles run on a treadmill, laps swum in the pool, pounds lifted, number of classes taken, etc. All patrons of the Avon Recreation Center are encouraged to participate.

By participating in this month long event, you will help raise funds for children of the world who are stricken with diseases like cancer, AIDS, and Sickle Cell Anemia. These funds will help St. Jude in its ongoing fight against childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other diseases. Founded by the late entertainer, Danny Thomas, and based in Memphis, Tenn., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world. No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSCA, its fundraising organization, through events such as Workout for St. Jude.

If you are interested in participating or making a donation, please stop in at the Front Desk of the Avon Recreation Center or call 748-4060. For more information on St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, please visit www.stjude.org.
