[ARCHIVED] Largest Winter Fireworks Display in Colorado!

Avon, CO - The Town of Avon, famous for its Independence Day celebration and accompanying fireworks display, is pleased to announce that for the first time ever it will be blasting off more than 10,000 shells of fireworks this Presidents’ Day weekend with the special event, “The Westin Riverfront Fire & Ice in Nottingham Park.”

Celebrating 35 years, Avon is thrilled to be able to present their renowned Fourth of July fireworks and the largest winter fireworks display in the State on Sunday, Feb. 17 starting at 3 p.m. in celebration of Presidents’ Day. Attendees of “The Westin Riverfront Fire & Ice” event will experience six world-renowned ice-carving masters, led by the legendary Scott Rella, founder of Icesculpture.com, which includes World Champions and Olympians as they battle in the carving competition starting at 3 p.m. The ice competition will culminate with the Peoples’ Choice Award followed by the larger than life Ice Bon Fire! Be entertained by balloon sculptors, fire and light hula-hoop artists and live music from Turntable Review. Stay cozy by the fire pits and in the warming huts while enjoying a hearty bowl of chili and a hot drink.

Be sure to visit Beaver Creek for some world class skiing and their annual PrezFest on Saturday, Feb. 16, where the six ice-sculptors will warm up their carving muscles during the American Icon Ice Sculpture Exhibition, presented by IceSculpture.com.

The “Westin Riverfront Fire & Ice in Nottingham Park” grand finale is Avon’s legendary fireworks display. Starting at 6:30 p.m., this will be the largest winter fireworks show in the Colorado Rockies featuring over 10,000 shells set to a musical score and broadcast locally on KZYR 97.7.
Special thanks to the Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa, Icesculpture.com, Eagle County, Beaver Creek Resort Company, Vail Daily, KZYR, Comfort Inn, Christie Lodge and Dunn Communications for their generous support.
Attendees are encouraged to ride public transportation, as parking is limited near the event venue. Dogs, personal fireworks and alcohol are not allowed. Please visit www.avon.org or Facebook/avonrecreation for additional event details and community impact notice.
