[ARCHIVED] Icing in the Park

Avon, CO - Kick off the holiday season at the Town of Avon’s Icing in the Park event in Harry A. Nottingham Park on Saturday, December 15 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Families will delight in many favorite winter-time activities such as riding snowmobiles in the park, taking a pedal cab to the giant tubing hill for some fast paced fun, having their names carved in the ice wall and visiting the reindeer petting zoo. But that’s not all: Santa and his Elves will be making a special appearance between 2:30 and 4:30 p.m.

In addition, the Town of Avon is partnering with the Salvation Army to host an “Angel Tree” at the Avon Recreation Center. Visit the Avon Recreation Center between now and the 15 to pick your angel from the tree and adopt-a-child for the holidays. Bring your adopted child’s gift to the Icing in the Park event on December 15 and get the wrapped for free. Parents, your kids can enter the coloring contest and win great prizes! Just visit Facebook/Avonrecreation for a downloadable ad or watch the Vail Daily for a black and white ad. Have your child color the ad and bring their artwork to the event.

Gather your friends and family and come out to Nottingham Park in Avon for Icing in the Park. The entire event is free. No dogs or alcohol allowed. Due to the compromised lake conditions Nottingham Lake will not be open this winter for ice skating.

Icing in the Park is sponsored by FirstBank, Christie Lodge, Vail Daily, KZYR, The Parents Handbook, NRC Broadcasting, Nova Guides, TV8, The Salvation Army and the Town of Avon.
