Avon, CO – The Avon Recreation Department is making good use of the natural resources available at Nottingham Park this summer with their new open water swim program starting Thursday, June 14th and running through August 9th. “We are so excited about this new program which offers local athletes an opportunity to experience Nottingham Lake and practice for Avon’s Dunk-n-Dash, XTERRA Beaver Creek and the BecTri Sprint Triathlon”, said John Curutchet, Recreation Programs Superintendent.
Open water swim will be offered every Thursday, June 14th through August 9th starting at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It will be operated as a drop-in program which enables participants to arrive anytime between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Swimmers can swim for as little or long as they like for only $5.
Check in for the program is located at the Log Cabin in Nottingham Park. Swimmers must be 15 years of age with parental release and should be prepared for lake temperatures in the low sixties. Wet suits are not required however strongly encouraged. Lifeguards will be on duty.
