Avon, CO—The Avon Police Department will have an on-site assessment February 13 from a representative from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) as part of a program to achieve national recognition by verifying it meets professional standards. This is the first time the Avon Police Department is seeking smile CALEA recognition.
Administered by CALEA, the recognition program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: Policy and Procedures, Administration, Operations, and Support Services.
As part of this on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments by calling the CALEA assessor on an unrecorded line. A public phone in session will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 from 3:00 p.m.— 5:00 p.m.; please call (970) 748-4015.
Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with the CALEA standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Avon Police Department. For information on these standards, contact CALEA Recognition Manager Krista Jaramillo at (970) 748-4006.
Anyone wishing to submit written comments about the Avon Police Department’s ability to comply with the standards of recognition may send them to: Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., (CALEA); 13575 Heathcote Boulevard; Suite 320; Gainsville, Virginia 20155, or email calea@calea.org.
