Avon Police Detectives Search Resident and Find Cocaine / Marijuana
Avon , CO—On the evening of November 7th the Avon Police Department, with assistance from the Eagle County Special Operations Unit, served a search and arrest warrant at 1011 Wildwood Road, Unit B 4, in the Town of Avon.
Avon Police Detectives and a Crime Scene Technician conducted a search of the residence in accordance with the judge’s order locating approximately one pound of marijuana and half-pound of raw uncut cocaine. The street value for the marijuana is approximately $2,500 and the street value for the cocaine could be in excess of $6,000.
The subject of the arrest warrant, Edward Elder aged 48, was safely placed in custody at that location. He was later transported to the Eagle County Detentions Facility and booked in on the warrant with a $15,000 bond. The charges on the warrant were for Distribution of marijuana, a class 5 Felony, and Reckless Endangerment, a class 3 misdemeanor. Elder was later released having posted bond.
“This is a significant amount of cocaine and no doubt, a local cocaine dealer has been removed from operating in our community” says Avon Police Chief Robert L. Ticer. “A half pound of cocaine equates to more than 1,000 personal uses of cocaine. The added benefit of this seizure will significantly reduce impaired drivers in our community.”
Avon Police officers spoke with multiple residents in the area who expressed their appreciation for taking a drug dealer out of their community.
The Eagle County Special Operations Unit is comprised of deputies, officers and personnel from the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Vail Police Department, Avon Police Department, Eagle Police Department and medical personnel.
