Avon, CO - If you’re looking for a great way to prepare for open water triathlon’s or duathlon’s, then Plum TV’s Dunk-N-Dash series is for you! Plum TV’s annual Dunk-N-Dash is a five event swim/run series which starts on Monday, July 11th at 6:00 p.m. and runs every Monday evening through August 8th. The Dunk-N-Dash series is intended to act as a training ground for athletes preparing for duathlons or triathlons in Colorado and is the only open water swim event in Eagle County.

This year’s participants will have a chance to win $500 by competing in all five events? Or, participants can enter the Points Series to win $100 cash and an entry into the “Scout the Stage” citizen’s ride on Friday, August 26th as part of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge.

Pre-registration is open until 5:00 p.m. the day before each race day ($15/race) online at www.active.com or you can register at the Avon Recreation Center. Race day registration is available for $20 at the Avon Recreation Center until 3:00 p.m. or at 5:00 p.m. at the blue Town of Avon tent located by Nottingham Lake (cash only). Individual registration for all five events is only $62.

The swim will be approximately 870 yards (1/2 mile) or 1740 yards (1 mile) in Nottingham Lake. Swimmers should be prepared for water temperatures between 65-74 degrees. The 5K run starts and finishes at the Lake’s pump-house. The running course runs north around Nottingham Lake, follows the path to Avon Elementary, and turns onto the scenic river recreation path. At “Bob the Bridge,” runners turn around and return on the same path, detouring to the south side of the Lake for the finish line.

The event will be timed by Altitude Sports and will be cumulative. Post-race snacks will be available for participants, family, and friends beginning at 7:00 p.m. near the finish at Nottingham Park. All cash prizes will be awarded at the last Dunk-n-Dash event on August, 8th.

In case of a lightning storm, a race may be cancelled or postponed to the following week. Please call Avon Recreation Center 970-748-4060 to confirm date and time should a race need to be rescheduled.
