[ARCHIVED] Salute to the USA

AVON, CO- The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa has once again signed on as title sponsor for the 24th anniversary of Salute to the USA, which will be held in Harry A. Nottingham Park on Saturday, July 3rd, 2010. The annual Independence Day celebration will begin at 5:00 p.m. with music, food vendors, and a beer garden. A great big FREE Family Zone will offer families carnival games, inflatable jumping toys, face painting, clowns and a special children’s instrument petting zoo presented by BRAVO! The Family Zone is sponsored by Calvary Chapel and will open at 5:30 p.m. and continue until the fireworks light the sky at 9:45 p.m.

The Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa, the gracious title sponsor of this pyrotechnic extravaganza, is the newest “green” resort development on the Eagle River in Avon with a direct gondola connection to Beaver Creek. The sponsor sees Salute’s patriotic message as an asset to Avon and to their resort. They are proud to sponsor this year’s Salute celebration.

DJ Logic takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. to dazzle the crowd with his turntable expertise. “Logic's not just a skilled DJ, he's also a talented all-around musician. Eschewing flashy scratching displays, he fronts chunky hip-hop beat slinging, knob-twisting dub, and chaotic sound sculpting -- sonic trademarks that have made him the man to call when jazz cats want to tap into the hip-hop zeitgeist. The results - both on the album and in concert - favor multi-textured grooves over highflying solos.” – URB.

The evening concludes with the Colorado Rockies largest fireworks display. The spectacular display will kick off at 9:45 p.m. and will be choreographed to a musical score simulcast on 97.7 KZYR The Zephyr. Come on out and enjoy this Independence Day celebration with your family at Harry A. Nottingham Park.

Please leave dogs, alcohol, grills and personal fireworks at home. Blankets and warm evening attire are recommended. Stopping on I-70 is against the law and will be strictly enforced by local law enforcement. “Not only is this against the law it is very dangerous; we would like to invite these folks to park within the Town and enjoy our event in a safe environment,” said Avon Police Chief, Bob Ticer. Parking on Town streets is not permitted.

This event is made possible with support from: Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa, KZYR, Vail Daily, Western Enterprises, Coors Light, Bachelor Gulch Village Association, Beaver Liquors, Stan Bernstein & Associates, Christie Lodge, Comfort Inn, Eagle County, FirstBank of Avon, Slifer, Smith, & Frampton, Calvary Chapel, Eagle River Fire Protection District, Beaver Creek West Condominiums, TV8 and the Town of Avon.
