Nottingham Lake & Beach are Open for the Summer

From paddleboarding to outdoor fitness classes, Nottingham Park is ready for Summer 2023

The Town of Avon is excited to announce the opening of Nottingham Lake and Beach for the 2023 summer season! Harry A. Nottingham Park is always a prominent gathering place for both everyday enjoyment and outdoor recreation opportunities.

Nottingham Lake opened for swimming on Thursday, May 25 with SUP and pedal boat rentals available through Stand Up Paddle Colorado on the north shore of Nottingham Beach. Guests are welcome to bring their own boats or paddleboards. Non-motorized vessels less than 16 feet are allowed, and PFDs are required for all passengers. Please launch in the designated areas adjacent to the docks on the north and south sides of the lake.

This summer will be filled with our signature recreation programs. Drop-In Open Water Swims begin on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. starting June 15 and our Dunk-N-Dash duathlon race series will return on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. beginning June 19. Our family Father’s Day race, the ‘Super Dad’ 2K Fun Run, is scheduled for Saturday, June 17. Lastly, hundreds of athletes will assemble at the beach for the Colorado Swimming Open Water Swim Championships, on Saturday, August 12.

Outdoor fitness offerings begin in June with yoga and HIIT classes in the mix. The Nottingham Park Fit Court will be utilized for some classes but remains available for everyday use. The Recreation Department is happy to announce an expanded ‘Yoga in the Park’ series with several different types of classes for all ages and ability levels.

The various park features provide the perfect venue for a wide variety of activities. Guests can enjoy a sandy beach, paved paths, a playground, two beach volleyball courts, and the newly reconstructed, six pickleball courts, two tennis courts and two basketball courts.

The Nottingham Park restrooms are open for the season during park operating hours. Picnic reservations are available online for groups of 50 people or less, and the barbecue grills and picnic shelters are ready and available for public use. The public is reminded that Nottingham Park grills may not be used during Stage 2 fire restrictions or a Red Flag Warning.

At their May 9 meeting, the Avon Town Council directed staff to designate the north park path in Harry A. Nottingham Park as a dismount zone. This designation will be in effect between 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Please navigate safely through the park and ‘walk your wheels’ in this section of the park. Through traffic is encouraged to use the south park path, the Eagle Valley Trail or the bike lane on West Beaver Creek Boulevard.
