We invite the community to join us at the Avon Performance Pavilion in Harry A. Nottingham Park on Wednesday, July 6th for our weekly AvonLIVE! free community concert series starting at 5:00 p.m. Rocky Mountain Grateful Dead Revue is headlining and takes the stage at 7:00 p.m. playing your favorite Grateful Dead Band cover songs.
Rocky Mountain Grateful Dead Revue was formed in 2005 from the top musicians of the foremost Grateful Dead off-shoot family bands. Based on a premise of player interchangeability to suit the situation, compatibility and success have coalesced the band into many different configurations. The band's forte lies in its faithful rendering of Grateful Dead material, both originals and covers, and the Grateful Dead's trademark style of improvisation. Achieved through a careful balance of comprehension and execution of the more defined musical elements of the material with a fearless passion to connect with the elusive "X factor" that Jerry Garcia affectionately spoke of, RMGDR remains aligned with the Dead's creed of playing off the energy of the audience and making them an integral component of the overall dynamic.
Opening for Rocky Mountain Grateful Dead Revue is Colorado based band, The Runaway Grooms at 6:00 p.m. Born from the rich culture of the Colorado mountains, The Runaway Grooms bring a refreshing take on contemporary jam band music. With pocket grooves, syncopated rhythms, and expansive tones, the band captures elements of funk and psychedelic rock while simultaneously celebrating traditional songwriting roots of Americana music. Dueling guitar solos, 3-part harmonies, and a screaming lap steel guitar, combine to create a unique soundscape that takes listeners through an experiential musical journey.
