The 36th annual Salute to the USA in Harry A. Nottingham Park takes place on Sunday, July 3rd starting at 5:00 p.m. Families can enjoy free kid-friendly activities including face painters, balloon sculptors, huge inflatable funhouses, a climbing wall, photo booth and more! Live music begins at 6:00 p.m. when Grammy Nominated guitarist, producer, and composer Cory Wong takes the stage. Galactic featuring Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph performs at 8:00 p.m. followed at 9:45 p.m. by a state of the art, awe-inspiring graphic and laser beam show encompassing Harry A. Nottingham Park and adjacent hillside on Nottingham Road. And that’s not all, the Enjoy Life!, Disfrute La Vida! Mural on the southeastern exterior wall of the Avon Recreation Center on Mikaela Way will come alive with optical illusions, vibrant color and movement which is sure to delight!
This annual and much anticipated event would not be complete without a host of fabulous festival-style foods from fresh homemade root beer and kettle corn to street tacos and roasted ears of corn, along with a full line-up for cold beer, refreshing hard-seltzers, chilled wine, and canned cocktails. “Salute to the USA, like all of Avon’s events, are plastic-free event so please leave your plastic beverage containers at home and purchase a recyclable canned product from the Hahnewald Bar or bring your own fillable water bottle,” stated Danita Dempsey, Culture, Arts & Special Events Manager for the Town of Avon. “Getting to the event is easier than ever with fare-free Avon shuttles running from Avon Station, Freedom Park in Edwards, and Eagle-Vail Community Center. ECO Transit is offering fare-free service beginning at 4:00 p.m.” continued Ms. Dempsey.

If you aren’t familiar, Cory Wong is a Grammy Nominated guitarist, producer and composer, who has been touring worldwide to sold out shows. Cory is moving more and more into becoming a household name by selling shows out at Madison Square Garden, gracing the cover of magazines, dropping signature equipment for musicians out there, and launching unique opportunities like the Cory Wong Scholarship with WaterBear in the UK (Full Bachelor’s degree) or his the more recent addition of 4th Position Academy. Musically, the landscape is as interesting as ever. He can be seen in the pop lane being covered by Billboard or the opposite side of the spectrum performing with a 60-pi Once again, the Town of Avon will offer free shuttle service from Freedom Park in Edwards and the Eagle Vail Community Center, in addition to the routes regularly serviced by Avon Transit.
