Town closes parking on the north side of West Beaver Creek Boulevard due to safety concerns

Town closes parking on the north side of
West Beaver Creek Boulevard due to safety concerns

The Town of Avon has discontinued on-street parking on the north side of West Beaver Creek Boulevard. The decision is a result of safety concerns with pedestrians crossing and conflicts with bike lanes on both sides of the street when accessing the Harry A. Nottingham Park and Beach areas.

Park visitors are now encouraged to park on Lake Street. Avon Elementary School parking will be available once school closes. Parking at the old Town Hall site will be available in mid-June. Park visitors can use the Lot 16 north parking lot for drop-off and then park at one of the specified locations. On-street parking is prohibited on both sides of West Beaver Creek Boulevard.

This safety-driven decision was made out of an abundance of caution and from citizen/resident input to prevent potential vehicle/pedestrian interactions while crossing West Beaver Creek Boulevard. Parking at the Avon Elementary School or Lake Street will ensure pedestrian safety while walking to and from the beach via Harry A. Nottingham Park pathways.

Please enjoy the beach and other amenities at Harry A. Nottingham Park this summer.
