[ARCHIVED] Active Shooter Emergency Services Response Training in Vail, Week of June 19th!

Active Shooter Photo

Vail, Colo. - In the emergency services world, preparation and training is critical to the success of any life-saving mission. Emergency services personnel in Eagle County spend considerable time and resources in ongoing training to ensure highly professional and proficient multi-agency responses to many types of emergency situations.

Active shooter or active assailant situations occur very rarely in Eagle County; the last event occurred in 2009. However, unfortunate tragedies have happened throughout the United States and here in Colorado. As your professional first responders, we strive to be ready at all times for these types of incidents, though we hope it never happens.

In an effort to be prepared as much as possible, first responder personnel from the Vail Police Department, Avon Police Department, Colorado State Patrol,Eagle River Fire District, Vail Fire Department, and Eagle County Paramedics Service will participate in multi-agency response training at the Vail Mountain School during the week of June 19th to June 23th.

We would like to thank Vail Mountain School for the use of their campus to practice our life-saving response training.

If you, as a member of our community, would like to participate in this training as a role player, please let us know as soon as possible. There will be morning and afternoon sessions on the 19th, 20th, 22nd, and 23rd. Please note your participation will be subject to a quick criminal history background check. Please call 970 748 4040 for role player registration.

We thank you for supporting the Vail Police Department, Avon Police Department,Colorado State Patrol, Eagle River Fire District, Vail Fire Department and Eagle County Paramedics Service.
