Learn to Swim Programs

The Recreation Department firmly believes it is our responsibility to ensure all members of our community have the opportunity to learn to swim and the option to pursue swimming at a high level. We offer swim lessons for children and adults at all levels! Financial assistance is available to those who qualify for free and reduced lunch through Eagle County School District.

Youth Group Swim Lessons

Youth Group Swim Lessons are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays (2 days a week) with an expanded schedule during the summer months as staffing allows.


Parent and Infant

(Ages 6 months to 18 months)
This class is for parents and young swimmers ages 6 months to 18 months old. Primary areas of focus include: supported back float progression, supported front float, rolling from front to back, supported jump in progression and most definitely socialization and fun.


Parent and Child

(Ages 18 months to 3 years old)
This class is for parents and young swimmers ages 18 months to 3 years old. Primary areas of focus include: supported back float progression, supported front float, rolling from front to back, supported arm and leg movements, comfortability in the water while socializing and having fun.


Preschool Level 1

(Ages 4 years to 5 years old)
This course is designed for the first time swimmer at the preschool age (4 to 5 years old). The class provides an introduction to learn to swim progression. Prior experience is not required. Main areas of focus include: overcoming anxiety of being in the water, beginning breath control, beginning arm and leg action on front and back, front float with support, back float with support, supported front float with kick, supported back float with kick and jump in progression.


Preschool Level 2

(Ages 4 years to 5 years old)
This course is designed for the intermediate level swimmer at the preschool age (4 to 5 years old). The class continues the learn to swim progression that students learned in the Preschool Level 1 class. All students must have passed Preschool Level 1 or have their swimming ability verified by one of our instructors prior to enrolling in the class. Main areas of focus include: front float without support, back float without support, front float with kick, back float with kick, arm and leg action without support, and submerging independently.

Preschool Level 3

(Ages 4 to 5 years old)
The objective of Preschool Level 3- Polar Bears is to increase children's proficiency in performing previously learned skills.  This is accomplished by providing additional guided practice and increasing repetitions, distances, times or levels of refinement.  The skills in Polar Bears are performed independently.  Children improve their coordination and control of combined simultaneous arm and leg actions and alternating arm and leg actions.  New water safety topics are introduced and previously acquired water safety knowledge and skills are reinforced.

Levels 1-4 (Ages 6 years - 12 years old)


Learn to Swim Level 1


This course is designed for the first time swimmer. The class provides an introduction to learn to swim progression. Prior experience is not required. Main areas of focus include: Overcoming anxiety of being in the water, beginning breath control, front float with support, back float with support, supported front float with kick, supported back float with kick and jump in progression. Primary skills acquired to move forward to next level: jump in to unsupported back float. Successful completion graduates to LTS 2.

Learn to Swim Level 2

Swimmers at this level should have the ability to submerge completely and perform front and back floats with little to no support. Main areas of focus include: Front and back float without support, unsupported front and back float with kick. Introduction to combined movements, float kick pull in both front and back positions. Successful completion graduates to LTS 3.


Learn to Swim Level 3


This course is for swimmers that are moving on top of the water independently. Primary areas of focus include: Advancing and refining breath control in front crawl, advancing distance in back crawl, learning the basics of breaststroke, treading water, and beginning the diving progression.

Learn to Swim Level 4

This course is for swimmers that already can perform front crawl, back crawl, and bilateral breathing. Primary areas of focus include: an in-depth focus on front crawl, and back crawl, refining the breaststroke, and beginning learning the basics of the butterfly swim stroke. Swimmers will learn the basics of treading water and will continue the diving progression. Successful completion of this course graduates to the recreational swim team.

​Adult Swim Lessons

Beginner Level


Participants will learn skills including submerging their face and body underwater independently, learning to float on their front and back, and beginning to travel through the water using a front crawl or elementary backstroke swimming stroke.

​Intermediate Level

 

Participants will learn skills including improving efficiency in the front crawl stroke, beginning to learn the backstroke and breaststroke, and learning to tread water.

Private Swim Lessons

 

We are now accepting new requests, however if your request is not picked up by an instructor our staff will refer you to our Group Learn-to-Swim options available.

Private swim lessons are coordinated directly by our swim instructor staff once your request is received.  Dates and times available will vary based on instructor availability.  Multipass purchases may be made with our Guest Services Representatives after scheduling dates and time with the instructor.  All purchases expire after 1 year.


Private Swim Lesson Pricing (1 participant to 1 instructor)
One, 30 minute, Private Lesson: $35
Three, 30 minute lessons: $105

Semi-Private Lesson Pricing (2 participants to 1 instructor)
One, 30 minute, Semi-Private Lesson: $30 per family or $60 if both participants are in the same family
Three, 30 minute lessons: $90 per family or $180 if both participants are in the same family
*Each family is responsible for separate transactions

Private Competitive Lesson Pricing (1 participant to 1 instructor)
One, 60 minute Private Lesson (1 participant): $70
Three, 60 minute Private Lessons (1 participant): $210
