XTERRA USA Championships
The 22nd annual XTERRA USA Championship off-road triathlon will be held in conjunction with a family-friendly and community focused weekend of events in Avon, Colorado on August 25-27, 2023.
There will be $25,000 in prize money awarded equally to the top 10 elite men and women, plus XTERRA USA Championship crowns to age group division winners along with 58 qualifying spots into the 2023 or 2024 XTERRA World Championship to be held in Trentino, Italy on September 23, 2023.
New this year, the USA Championship is part of the XTERRA World Cup, a 7-stop global circuit built to showcase XTERRA’s fastest off-road triathletes as the biggest names in the sport go head-to-head for their share of a $340,000+ prize purse.
In addition to the main event, XTERRA will host sprint and relay races along with a variety of other endurance events for the whole family including 5k, 10k, 21k, and 42k trail runs, kid’s races, yard games, vendor booths, food trucks, beer gardens, and live music from the Spazmatics at the marvelous open air Harry A. Nottingham Park Pavilion in the heart of Avon on Saturday night! This high-energy outdoor concert on the lawn by the lake is free to XTERRA racers, their friends, family, and the whole town of Avon, so come boogie down to the awesome sounds, styles, and dance steps from the 1980’s with The Spazmatics!!
“It’s an amazing venue, for both its natural beauty and world-class facilities, and the support we receive from the community is incredible,” said Steve Andrus, XTERRA U.S. Tour Manager. “We’re looking forward to building on the partnerships we established last year, and excited about our new date in August which provides us with more opportunities to engage with local partners and deliver a truly exceptional experience for participants.”
The Beaver Creek course itself, aka "The Beast," boasts the highest elevation of any major on the XTERRA World Tour starting with a one-mile swim in Nottingham Lake located at 7,400-feet elevation; followed by a 15-mile mountain bike that climbs 3,500-feet into the thin air of the Rockies topping out at 9,400ft; and finishes with a grueling six-mile trail run through the aspens.
In order to accommodate race activities, Nottingham Lake and Beach will be temporarily closed on:
- Friday, August 25th between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
- Saturday, August 26th between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
