Electric Vehicle Chargers

Electric Vehicle Charging Station at Avon Town Hall

The Town of Avon was awarded a $45,000 grant through the Department of Energy Charge Ahead program to install five more Level 2 electric vehicle (EV) chargers in 2022. The locations for the additional chargers are at the Avon Town Hall and on the south end of Lake Street. Avon recently activated two additional EV chargers at Beaver Creek Place (one DC Fast Charger and one Level 2 charger) with the funding assistance of a $44,000 grant from the Department of Energy’s Charge Ahead program. By the end of 2022, Avon will offer public access to nine Level 2 chargers and two DC Fast Chargers, capable of charging 20 EVs at once. Traer Creek Plaza also offers public access to two Level 2 chargers. Avon’s goal is to be a leader in supporting EV usage.

Additionally, Avon EV Charging Stationshas two new electric vehicle chargers located at Avon Town Hall and Beaver Creek Place for public use. These stations are the result of a collaboration between the Town of Avon, Holy Cross Energy, and the Colorado Energy Office (Charge Ahead grant program). Avon was recognized by the Colorado Energy Office as an integral part of the Electric Vehicle Fast-Charging Corridor on I-70.

The Beaver Creek Place Charger incorporates the DC Fast charging technology that reduces the charge time for an electric vehicle from several hours to less than an hour for a full charge. The total cost to install the DC Fast Charger was $80,000. The Colorado Energy Office awarded $35,000 for the charger and Holy Cross Energy provided the utility upgrade estimated at $30,000.
