Be sure to mark your calendars and come out to celebrate the changing seasons with a little spring cleaning! On Saturday, May 20th the Town will host the ninth annual Town Clean-Up Day event, giving volunteers a chance to clean up Avon after a long winter season.
Volunteer check-in is at 10:00 a.m. after which Team Captains will take volunteer groups to assigned clean up zones. Everyone will meet back at Town Hall between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to enjoy ice cold beer and delicious food provided by Ein Prosit.
We're asking everyone to take photos of the clean up and use the hashtag #keepavonclean to share your clean up day treasures. Some photos may be used on social media and in the TOA newsletter.
Zones 1-3 (meet at Town Hall at 10:00 a.m.):
Zone 1: Behind Avon Station
Zone 2: Metcalf/Nottingham Intersection to the culdesac
Zone 3: From intersection of Oldtrail Rd/Wildridge Rd, down hill to the turnaround culdesac on Metcalf Rd.
Public Transportation & Parking:
The use of public transportation is encouraged as well as walking or riding a bike to the park.
Free on street parking is available, including on W. Benchmark Road and Lake Street, as well as at the Avon Elementary School Parking Lots.
Remember your reusable water bottle - Plastic-Free Event! Fostering a culture of environmentalism, waste mitigation and energy conservation which minimizes the negative impacts to our collective environment and community for the long term is of upmost importance to the Town. The Towns environmental sustainability initiatives and Eagle County’s waste diversion goal of 50% reduction by 2030 (zero waste events utilizing leave no trace practices).
