E-Buses Roll into Avon

Avon welcomed its first electric buses into service in June, 2022, marking a significant step in transitioning Avon’s diesel transit fleet to zero-emission vehicles. The $2M purchase was made possible with a Federal Transit Authority Low-No Emission Vehicle Grant. The $1.6M grant helped purchase two 35’ electric battery Proterra buses. The new additions, coupled with the Town’s commitment to renewable energy with Holy Cross Energy, are key components of the Town’s strategy toward reaching Avon’s Climate Action Goals.

All Avon Transit buses are ADA accessible. Year round paratransit service to residents and visitors is available. For additional information on paratransit eligibility requirements and general service questions please call (970) 748-4120 or visit the Avon Paratransit Services page.
