The Town of Avon is going beyond our current obligations to the USDA Forest Service to make trail and trail head improvements in response to the overwhelming support voiced by residents and second home owners in the 2008 Community Survey. Avon has just adopted a comprehensive
Recreational Trails Master Plan that will be implemented over the next few years and results in improving existing recreational trails, adding new trails, and restoring non-sustainable trails. More options for hiking, mountain biking, snow showing, kite flying, and other non-motorized activities will be coming to Avon. A
presentation to Town Council by Rob Janusz, Superintendent of Parks, on February 24, 2009 describes the new program. Potential future trail locations, capital and operating costs are discussed.
Town staff are seeking grant opportunities for trail projects and a Trail Advisory Board has been formed to coordinate a largely volunteer effort for trail construction and annual maintenance. We hope you get involved!
Please take a moment after reading the Recreational Trails Master Plan and viewing the presentation to give us your
feedback.
