Town Clean-Up Day

Be sure to mark your calendars and come out to celebrate the changing seasons with a little spring cleaning! 

On Saturday, May 13, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Town will hold the second annual Town Clean-Up Day event, giving volunteers a chance to clean up Avon after a long winter season. The clean-up will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the focus will be on volunteers cleaning up the community and businesses cleaning up around their establishments. The Town will be divided into seven sections and each Town Council member will captain a specific section. The seven sections, the captain for each section, and the location to meet a captain on the day of the event are as follows:

Section: West Beaver Creek Boulevard
Captain: Councilor Jake Wolf
Place to meet: Lot 16/Parking Lot on north side of Nottingham Park

Section: Nottingham Park, Lake Street & Main Street Mall
Captain: Mayor Pro Tem Sarah Smith Hymes
Place to meet: Nottingham Park

Section: Hurd Lane/Eaglebend Drive/Railroad
Captain: Councilor Amy Phillips
Place to meet: TBD

Section: Avon Road/Town Core
Captain: Mayor Jennie Fancher
Place to meet: TBD

Section: Nottingham Road/Swift Gulch Road
Captain: Councilor Megan Burch
Place to meet: TBD

Section: Wildridge/Wildwood
Captain: Councilor Scott Prince
Place to meet: Wildridge Fire Station

Section: Post Boulevard/Traer Creek
Captain: Councilor Matt Gennett
Place to meet: TBD


If you are interested in volunteering to clean-up a specific section, on the day of the event, just show up to once of the locations listed above and the captain will provide you with trash bags, reflective vests and a voucher for a free lunch at 11:00 a.m. at the Avon Performance Pavilion. Volunteers who want to be assigned to a section should meet at the Avon Performance Pavilion at 9:00 a.m. Upon arrival, volunteers will be given the same materials described above. Volunteers will be able to set full trash bags curbside, as Avon Public Works staff will make periodic loops around Town to retrieve and dispose of the filled bags. The volunteer thank you lunch will be held on the terrace of the Pavilion, beginning at 11:00 a.m.
