Ron and his wife, Valerie, were long time visitors to the Vail Valley before moving to Avon full time in 1999. Ron was elected Mayor in November 2004. He is a member and chair of the Eagle County Open Space Committee, member of the Avon Arts Council, the Mountain Star Homeowner's Association Board, and is a Volunteer Guest Services Representative at Beaver Creek. Ron is also a member of the Minturn Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Ron's son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Krista Wolfe, also reside in Avon with their sons, Eddie and Cody. He is an engineer by education and retired from Avon Products in 1994 after a 30-year career. Ron has had a wide range of responsibilities, including research and development, product design, purchasing, manufacturing, sales, distribution and customer service. Before moving to Avon, he was with General Electric developing nuclear powered submarines and distribution systems for extra-high-voltage electricity. He served as a Captain in the US Army Corps of Engineers, including a tour in Vietnam. Ron served on Avon's Planning and Zoning Commission for two years prior to being elected to the Council. His interests and hobbies include skiing, snowshoeing, cooking, architecture, gardening and automobile mechanics.
