Town of Avon to Launch Bike Share  on August 31st

Town will partner with Zagster to provide a new way to get around Avon

Avon, CO – The Town of Avon is launching its bike share program on Thursday, August 31, 2017, 1:00 p.m., at Avon Station. The program will provide residents and visitors with a convenient, affordable and healthy way to get around town.

Avon’s bike share program is an integral action in the Town’s comprehensive multimodal effort to reduce personal vehicle usage and implementation of Avon’s Climate Action Plan. Along with development of  pedestrian friendly changes, fare-free transit system, and free public parking, the bike share program will continue to enhance Avon’s Free Spaces to Explore.

Twenty cruiser bikes will be available at four stations for riders to use for on-demand, local trips. Riders join the program by signing up for annual memberships or hourly uses. The bikes will be available from May through October, depending on the weather.

Avon’s bike share features the Zagster 8, an award-winning bike known for its practical design, comfortable ride and easy handling. The bike includes a spacious basket that’s perfect for carrying groceries, takeout, or personal belongings. And, because rider safety is a priority, every bike includes automatic lights, a bell, and full reflectors.

Join Mayor Jennie Fancher and members of the Avon Town Council at Avon Station for the exciting bike launch. Refreshments will be served.

Zagster operates more than 160 bike share programs in 35 states across North America and specializes in making bike sharing available in areas where traditional bike share providers can't reach.
