TOWN COUNCIL TO BEGIN REVIEW OF AVON HOTEL APPLICATION ON DECEMBER 5th
The Major Development Plan has been unanimously recommended for approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission
Avon, CO – The Avon Town Council will commence a public hearing on December 5th
on the Avon Hotel Major Development Plan, submitted by Treadstone Development LLC. The new 142-room hotel is proposed on Lot B, between the Avon Center and the new Town Hall. It will front the Main Street Pedestrian Mall, and was unanimously recommended for approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission at its November 14th
meeting. In addition to review of the hotel design, the Council will consider a request from Treadstone to fund landscaping in the public right-of-way totaling $40,000 and extension of the Town’s heat recovery infrastructure to Lot B at an estimated contribution of $50,000. The capacity of the heat recovery system is not expected to meet demands from the hotel; therefore Treadstone Development LLC is also seeking funding for any necessary plant upgrades. If approved, funding would be appropriated from the Urban Renewal Fund budget, which will benefit from increased tax increment revenue generated from the Avon Hotel development, if approved.
The December 5th
public hearing will be continued to the Council’s December 13th
meeting, to allow for additional public comment. Public comment is welcomed on the Avon Hotel application and will be heard at the meetings. In addition, email comments may be sent to Town Clerk Debbie Hoppe at firstname.lastname@example.org
, by not later than December 13th
at 1:00 p.m., for distribution to the Town Council.
