Avon Launches Business COVID-19 Relief Grants
Grants will be awarded to Avon businesses for COVID-19 expenses
As an uncertain winter season approaches, the Avon Town Council provided direction to Avon Staff to create a business relief grant program and approved $150,000 in funding for the program on Tuesday, October 27th. The purpose of the Avon Business COVID-19 Relief Program is to provide immediate funding to small, local businesses to pay for essential expenses and offset additional winter expenses due to the pandemic.
Businesses that can demonstrate financial hardship and COVID-19 related expenses will be eligible to receive up to $5,000 in grant funds. Avon Staff will review the second round of applications on Wednesday, November 25th. This Business COVID-19 Relief Grant program will remain open until funds are used. Businesses must have a current and valid Town of Avon business license and be up-to-date with Avon sales tax to be eligible. “The Avon Town Council understands that many Avon businesses are struggling with the COVID-19 public health orders and hopes that this local business grant program can provide financial relief where needed in Avon,” said Mayor Sarah Smith Hymes.
Details about the program and the complete application are available at www.avon.org/covid19.
