Private Swim Lessons
In addition to the classes listed below, private and semi-private swim lessons are also available with our highly trained and qualified swim instructors. If you are wanting private instruction for your little swimmer or some time to brush up on your own swimming techniques, SUBMIT A PRIVATE SWIM LESSON REQUEST HERE. Private swim lessons are coordinated directly by our swim staff and vary based on instructor availability.

Youth Group Swim Lessons
Parent & Tot Swim Lessons
(Ages 6 months-3 years old)Levels 1-3 (Ages 3 years - 12 years of age)
Learn to Swim Level 1
This course is designed for the first time swimmer. The class provides an introduction to learn to swim progression. Prior experience is not required. Main areas of focus include: Overcoming anxiety of being in the water, beginning breath control, front float with support, back float with support, supported front float with kick, supported back float with kick and jump in progression. Primary skills acquired to move forward to next level: jump in to unsupported back float. Successful completion graduates to LTS 2.
Learn to Swim Level 2
Swimmers at this level should have the ability to submerge completely and perform front and back floats with little to no support. Main areas of focus include: Front and back float without support, unsupported front and back float with kick. Introduction to combined movements, float kick pull in both front and back positions. Successful completion graduates to LTS 3.
Learn to Swim Level 3
This course is for swimmers that are moving on top of the water independently. Primary areas of focus include: Advancing and refining breath control in front crawl, advancing distance in back crawl, learning the basics of breaststroke, treading water, and beginning the diving progression.
Learn to Swim Level 4
This course is for swimmers that already can perform front crawl, back crawl, and bilateral breathing. Primary areas of focus include: an in-depth focus on front crawl, and back crawl, refining the breaststroke, and beginning learning the basics of the butterfly swim stroke. Swimmers will learn the basics of treading water and will continue the diving progression. Successful completion of this course graduates to the recreational swim team.

ADULT GROUP SWIM LESSONS
The Avon Recreation Center is proud to offer Adult Swim Lessons for beginners and those at the intermediate level.
Beginner Level:
The beginner level class is intended for participants looking to learn basic skills and become comfortable in the water. Participants will learn skills including submerging their face and body underwater independently, learning to float on their front and back, and beginning to travel through the water using a front crawl or elementary backstroke swimming stroke.

Intermediate Level:
The intermediate level class is intended for participants looking to improve on basic skills and comfort in the water. Participants will learn skills including improving efficiency in the front crawl stroke, beginning to learn the backstroke and breaststroke, and learning to tread water.
