Town of Avon Website Policies
A. "Personally identifiable information" is information about a natural person that is readily identifiable to that specific individual. It includes an individual’s first and last name, residential address, telephone number, or e-mail address.
B. The Town fully supports the protection of individual privacy, and minimizes the collection of personally identifiable information to the least amount of information required to complete a particular transaction. A. The Colorado Open Records Act (“CORA”), C.R.S. §24-72-201 et seq., is applicable to information collected on this website. CORA states, in part:
“It is declared to be the public policy of this state that all public records shall be open for inspection by any person at reasonable times, except as provided in this part 2 or as otherwise specifically provided by law.”
B. In accordance with CORA and the Town’s Public Records Policy, a “public record” is defined as:
“All writings made, maintained, or kept by the Town for use in the exercise of functions required or authorized by law or administrative rule or involving the receipt or expenditures of public funds. The term “Public Records” does not include Work Product; however, it does include the correspondence of elected official, with limitations as noted in C.R.S. §24-72-202, et seq.”
C. All information provided by the user becomes public record once provided and may be subject to public inspection and copying if not protected by federal or state law. Users are cautioned that the collection of personally identifiable information requested from or volunteered by children online will be treated the same as information provided by an adult and may be subject to public access.
